So last night I was so kindly embarrassed by Marc in front of all of his friends. He told them all about our emails before I arrived and how I royally screwed up my French by saying, "J'espère que vous êtes bien." I was trying to say I hope you are doing well, but instead ending up with, "I hope you are handsome." Wamp wamp wamp....ironically enough, later in the email I asked for his picture so I would recognize him at the airport and wouldn't be taken by some crazy stranger. Chapeau!
Good thing the Ronziere family likes to pick on people as much as my family :)
And now onto a few fun facts/random thoughts:
-Lyon consists of two collines (hills) and two fleuves (rivers). To get into Saint Fons, you pass by the Rhône. There are a lot of chemical plants, somewhat like the Port of Wilmington. Thus the nickname, "Chemie Rhône Valley," a spoof on Silicone Valley.
- The sun rises at 7:30 right now and sets at 8 pm...a little different then at home. Regardez (le matin):
- French people do not typically pick up after their dogs....so watch your step.
- Public transportation is the way to go here in the city. Metros run every two minutes and cost less than in DC (with the conversion rate). The cars are a lot prettier too and have these foldable seats, which you can use depending if you want to lean against the padded wall or sit down.
Gotta run to school! More to come. Love!
